History of Builders Care

The Lee Building Industry Association (Lee BIA) founded Builders Care in 2005 to provide no-cost emergency home repair and renovation services to needy elderly, disabled and economically disadvantaged homeowners.

These projects are possible thanks to the donated services and expertise of Lee BIA members. The program gives these local builders a way to work together on worthwhile community service projects while providing critical housing repairs for our neediest neighbors.

Recipients are referred to Builders Care by local social service agencies, churches and community members. Each case is carefully evaluated by Builders Care staff and governing board members to determine eligibility.

Builders Care is funded through financial donations and grants and donated services and materials from area builders, subcontractors and construction-related businesses. Churches and other community groups also participate by providing fundraising services and volunteers to work on renovation projects and referring applicants for services.
